At G.R. Klinefelters Underwriters Inc. (“GRK”), protecting your privacy is very important to us. We want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it. When you apply to GRK, you disclose information about yourself to us. Law regulates the collection, use and disclosure of such information. GRK, its affiliates, and subsidiaries maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with state and federal regulations to guard your personal information. We also limit employee’s access to personal identifiable information to those with a business reason for knowing such information. GRK also instructs our employees so that they understand the importance of the confidentiality of personal information, and take appropriate measures to enforce employee privacy responsibilities.
What kind of information do we collect about you and from whom?
GRK obtains most of our information from you. The application you complete, as well as any additional information you provide, generally gives to us most of the information we need to know. Sometimes we may contact you by mail or phone to obtain additional information.
We may obtain the additional information from third parties, such as government agencies, courts, and/or public record. We may receive consumer credit information from a consumer-reporting agency, among others. A report from a consumer reporting agency may contain information as to creditworthiness, credit sharing, credit capacity, character, general reputation, occupation, personal characteristics, or mode of living. If we order an investigative consumer credit report, we will notify you as required by state laws and the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Under FCRA, you have the right to be personally interviewed if we order an investigative consumer report. Upon request, we will tell you how to get a copy of the report. The agency that preparers a consumer report for us may retain that report and disclose it to other persons as permitted by law.
What do we do with the information collected about you?
We collect and store information that you voluntarily provide to us, as well as data related to your site visit and usage. For example, you voluntarily provide information about you when you send us an email, use certain features on the site such as job postings, or register with us. . You agree that no content or information submitted in any form contain sensitive information, including but not limited to Personal Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), including information concerning social security numbers, banking numbers, debit card numbers, state-issued identification card numbers, driver’s license numbers, security codes, access codes, or passwords that would permit access. If such PHI and PII are provided, GRK’s obligations are limited to those in the Terms of Use policy and herein.
To whom do we disclose information about you?
GRK will not disclose or publish any confidential information about an authorized user or applicant unless we feel the disclosure is necessary to conduct our business. We do not disclose any non-public personal information about our applicants, customers, or employees except as permitted and/or required by law. That may mean that we will make disclosures to the following types of third parties, among others, without your consent:
Our affiliated companies;
Independent claims adjusters, appraisers, investigators, and attorneys who need information to investigate, defend, or settle a claim or potential claim;
Businesses that help us with data processing or marketing;
Other insurance companies, agents, or consumer reporting agencies as reasonably necessary in connection with any application, policy, or claim involving you;
Insurance support organizations which are establish to collect information for the purpose of detecting and preventing insurance crimes or fraudulent claims;
Law enforcement or other governmental authority to protect our legal interest or in cases of suspected fraud or illegal activity;
Other governmental agency conducting employment audits; and
Authorized persons as ordered by a subpoena, warrant, or other court order or as required by law.
How can you find out about information we have about you?
You have the right to know what kind of information we keep in our files about you, to have reasonable access to it, and to receive a copy. Contact us by any of the ways provided at the end of this notice if you have questions about what information we may have on file, tell us what information you would like to receive, and provide your complete name and address with your request.
Effect of Termination of Usage
At the time your use of the Site is terminated, regardless of who terminates said usage, all information obtained prior to such terminations is retained by GRK until it is deleted or destroyed in accordance with our standard information retention procedures. However, all information, until such deletion or destruction, is retained in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
